The Dmanisi Archaeological Site
The Dmanisi site became globally renowned in the 1990s when the remains of some of the earliest humans to have lived outside Africa were discovered here. The fossils, dated to about 1.8 million years ago, belong to an early human species, Homo erectus (sometimes referred to as Homo georgicus). These findings have significantly impacted our understanding of human evolution, showing that early humans migrated out of Africa much earlier than previously thought.
The most famous discovery at Dmanisi is the five well-preserved skulls, which are among the most complete early human skulls ever found. The site also uncovered a range of stone tools and evidence of animal hunting, giving a glimpse into the daily lives of these early humans.

Dashbashi Canyon
Dashbashi Canyon is an excellent destination for outdoor activities. The rugged terrain offers opportunities for hiking, with trails that lead visitors through the canyon’s most scenic spots. The hikes vary in difficulty, with some routes suitable for casual walkers and others challenging enough for experienced hikers.
For the more adventurous, Dashbashi also offers opportunities for canyoning, where you can explore the canyon by descending through its steep cliffs and waterfalls using ropes. The canyon is also a popular spot for mountain biking and bird watching, as the area is home to various bird species.
Recently, a glass bridge has been constructed over the canyon, offering visitors a thrilling way to experience the canyon’s beauty. Walking across the transparent floor of the bridge gives an exhilarating view of the canyon below, making it a must-do for those seeking a bit of excitement.
